Trip Advisor Review: Great Family Vacation

First of all, this place is in Tavernier, FL, which is a tiny portion of the Southern end of Key Largo. It's 10 minutes south of the tourist area of Key Largo and 10 minutes north of the tourist area of Islamorada so it was very quiet. The pool was big enough for the large number of people that were on the deck and in the water and while the beach was a typical Ocean Side Florida Keys beach, I enjoyed the harder surface than normal South Florida sandy beaches to launch our kayak from. While we didn't have a boat other than the kayak, the small marina seemed adequate for anyone who needed to use it. The outer parking lot was filled with other boats, I can only assume that these are mainly from property owners that are there seasonally but plenty of boats coming and going from the boat ramp. No long haul like a lot of the marinas to get out to the ocean, this resort is right on the water with an incredible view of the ocean with almost any room. We stayed in building 4 which seemed to have the closest spot to the ocean so that may be biased.

We had a pretty serious maintenance issue our first night there after the maintenance crew had gone home where the fridge compressor stopped working, but they allowed us to use a room on the same floor of the building we were in for the night and the manager got us switched to that room in the morning. (We probably would have switched that night, but the kids were already sleeping when we realized the problem.)

Full Washer/Dryer in the room which we only used to dry off our personal towels from the previous days. (Yes, they have plenty of towels in the rooms for all 6 of us, but our kids prefer using their own cartoon towels.)
To expand, the beach area is a seagrass bed that is quite shallow (2-3 feet max) the entire way out past the buoys but that's to be expected off the southern shore of Tavernier.

We WILL be back here next summer, but maybe earlier in the summer/late spring as August is prime-time moon jellyfish migration season.
