The Mutiny Hotel Continues "Pure Imagination" Art Series

COCONUT GROVE, FL (August, 2010) – The once-infamous Mutiny Hotel now draws a new kind of attention to itself with its Pure Imagination Art Series. The bright swatch of coral that is The Mutiny Hotel and the intensely blue South Florida sky offer the perfect backdrop for the colorful and thought-provoking works of South Florida’s variety of talented artists.

For more than a year now, Pure Imagination has featured at least one local artist every month with an intimate reception and exhibit. The complimentary wine pours and thoughtful hors d’oeuvres highlight the best the hotel has to offer. A member of Summit Hotels and Resorts, The Mutiny Hotel is a secret pleasure in Coconut Grove – offering warm, personalized service and unparalleled value. The hotel’s restaurant, Atchana’s East/West Kitchen, caters the monthly events. Nestled in the Mutiny’s lobby, Atchana’s provides a Pan-Asian themed menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, showcasing a culinary imagination of inspired Thai favorites and creative Western dishes.

The innovative programming continues, after successful viewings in 2009 with several well-known local artists such as Ed King, Hector Maldonado, Deborah Weed and Summer Salon by Debra Cortese. Recent July and August events moved the program in a new direction with sound added to the visual art: on July 1st, WaveSpun by Paulapart introduced a fascinating sound installation.

The Center for Emerging Art, Inc. ( Music Map of the World Concert, presenting the CEA Chamber Ensemble, was made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners and the Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council and private donations. On August 19th, Center for Emerging Art’s Chamber Ensemble introduced the audience to Chamber Music, a form of classical music, performed in the hotel's intimate atmosphere of salon style setting. The audience enjoyed palatable musical hors d’oeuvres from such famous composers as Bizet, Scarlatti, MacDowell, J. S. Bach and O Mio Bambino Caro by G. Puccini.

The Arts inspire, encourage creativity, and stir the soul – with Pure Imagination, The Mutiny Hotel provides an attractive venue for artists to show their work and reach a greater audience, making art more accessible to all. The public is invited to wander in to Pure Imagination for a complimentary reception in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere - enjoy an eclectic collection of local artists once a month on a Thursday. Visit the Facebook page “Pure Imagination at The Mutiny Hotel” for details on their next event. The Mutiny Hotel is located at 2951 South Bayshore Drive.
